Hi, my name is Stephen Helms Sr., and I'm attempting to raise money for the increasing medical bills my wife has. Georgene, my wife, suffered a massive ischemic stroke in December of 2021 that has drastically damaged the right side of her brain. Georgene was admitted immediately into the ICU and placed in a medically induced coma. My family had no idea of the severity of her condition and soon found out that her life would never be the same again. Georgene stayed at HRMC until the end of December 2021 and was then transferred to Kindred Hospital until March 2022. It has been an ongoing process with several close-call incidents that we've always been blessed to have her pull through. Georgene is currently home with the usage of a tracheostomy and is cared for daily by a home healthcare nurse, two to three times a week for physical therapy, and twice a week for speech therapy. In addition to the clinicians caring for her, she daily takes up to seven prescription medications a day. I am 67yrs old, retired, and cannot provide as best as I used to due to physical constraints and being on a fixed income. My sons assist as much as possible with her care, but we cannot afford the climbing costs of Georgene's healthcare expenses. I've had the privilege of being Georgene's husband for almost 40yrs, and I know that our journey together isn't ready to end yet. Georgene is an absolute fighter and is determined to stay with us. I never thought our lives would take such a drastic turn this late in life, but we're a family, and will get through this together. Any amount donated is appreciated beyond words.
