I am a 50-year-old mother of two from Maine, who has been affected by Cancer... My father, Jay Patch, got diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma nearly 30 years ago. He went through the chemo, radiation, surgeries and stem cell transplants... His fight was long, strong, inspiring and powerful. He passed away 5 years ago. A year after his passing, my mother, Meikle Patch, got diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian cancer. She had surgery, chemo and fought the fight strongly and beautifully! We got the Generic testing and found out that she had a BRAC2 mutation. That led me to get tested and found out that I too have the BRACA2 mutation. I have had my ovaries removed and am looking at a mastectomy in the future... I had been scheduled for one but put it off when the end of my mom's journey became evident. Meikle, mom, passed away on January 6, 2022. She and I were extremely close ( Best Friends, Soul Sisters)
During this last year, I had been working with Sean Swarner. He had survived 2 terminal cancers as a child and is on a mission to spread HOPE for people affected by cancer. He has climbed 7 tallest summits on 7 continents and skiid to the North and South Pole, the Adventurer's Grand Slam. Now, he takes groups up Kiliminjaro and brings the Hope flag with the names of people affected by cancer to the summit! Over the year he would plant the seed, "you'll see when you get there" I have had this seed planted for a long time. It is NOW that I am making it Happen... But I absolutely can Not do this alone... I am training at the gym, 5 days a week and will be doing local hikes as training... it is the Cost of the trip that is prohibitive, $10,000.
I am asking that you share this with your community and make any amount of contribution... EVERY Dollar counts:) If you would like me to put the name of you or your loved one affected by cancer on this flag, please put their names in the comments with your donation...
I am Incredibly grateful for you and truly want to show that We can KICK CANCER'S BUTT!!!
