ABOUT CRANE GIRL!
Our newest creation, Crane Girl , written and directed by Alexa Higgins, and inspired by a real event, brings FIT's penchant for ambitious storytelling to new heights. It follows Jane, a young married woman who, having witnessed a tragic event, suddenly finds herself feeling untethered, enraged, and trapped. Jane can see no way out of the cage she has built around herself until she realizes she should not have been looking for a way out, but rather, up. Every character in Jane's orbit lives somewhere on the crane, so as Jane continues her thrilling ascent, she comes face to face with the very past she is trying to climb away from. Crane Girl explores themes of rage and women's bodies, societal constraints, reproductive rights, and what it means to find your voice. This fast-paced production stars three actors playing multiple roles, and will take you on a fascinating journey upward!
Winner of the Best New Play award at the Hamilton Fringe Festival, Crane Girl will make her inaugural climb this summer with seven performances in July in the Theatre Aquarius studio space, as part of the Hamilton Fringe, before heading off to climb another city's tallest crane...
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are a small theatre company who has had the pleasure of working with a variety of artists in a variety of cities since 2018. Our productions require an intense collaborative creation process, and it has always been our mission to pay artists a reasonable wage for this work. Companies of our size rarely have a yearly operating budget, and as such, we currently rely on ticket sales, commissioned performances, money from our own pockets, and donations from art lovers like you to create the kind of work we want to put out in the world and pay all artists for their collaboration. All of your donations, big and small, will go towards artist fees, rehearsal space rentals, and the production costs of putting a crane onstage! Thank you for considering donating to this unique, and in our opinion, vital, work!
