For many children, speaking to others is one of the hardest things in the world.
My son is one of them. He lives with Selective Mutism, a severe anxiety disorder that makes it incredibly difficult for him to speak in certain social settings, especially around unfamiliar people. It’s not that he doesn’t want to speak, he simply can’t.
Every day brings challenges, from going to school and speaking to teachers to something as simple as meeting other children, where communication becomes a silent struggle. And yet, he faces this with incredible strength and quiet resilience.
To raise awareness and support for others like him, we’ve decided to climb Ben Vorlich together, a physical challenge to reflect the emotional one that so many children climb every single day.
We’re doing this to raise funds for SMiRA (Selective Mutism Information & Research Association), a small but powerful charity that provides support to families, raises awareness and advocates for better understanding of this often-misunderstood condition.
This climb is our way of stepping up for every child who feels trapped in silence. It won’t be easy, but it’s nothing compared to the mountain they climb daily.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help make a real difference. Please support us if you can, and if you can’t donate, please share this with others to help spread the word.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Let’s make sure no child feels alone in their silence.
