Climbing 5642m for Syncope
Donation protected
I am getting ready to climb Mount Elbrouz, 5642m in September 2018 and I want to dedicate this effort to people with syncope. Syncope, or fainting is a transient loss of consciousness that might be caused by a harmless state (fatigue, etc) as well as a life-threatening condition, i.e. heart rhythm issue. It is not easy to live with syncope when it’s unexplained. It’s difficult to make long-term plans, advance in sports and undertake challenges.
Continuous heart monitoring (a small implantable device that I wear in my chest) helped to rule out the cardiac origin of my fainting. My condition could be finally managed, and I could get back to active life. Thanks to a special training program developed in close collaboration with my cardiologist and sport coach I was able to get fit for the mountain challenge.
I will be climbing Mt Elbrouz for people with syncope to raise awareness about this health condition and help them get diagnosed. I ask for 5642 $ (1$ for each meter of altitude), 2500 $ of which will be used to fund my expedition and the rest will be donated to a patient association.
Please donate and spread a word among your friends!
I'll share updates (pictures, videos, posts) on my progress and results of my expedition in September with all contributors!
