Climb to help Tommy fight Acute Myeloid Leukaemia

Donation protected
Hi everyone,
We re doing a fundraiser for my cousin Tommy from Ratoath who’s just turned 3. Myself and Luke are going to climb the highest Mountain in Vietnam. It’s over 3000 Meters above sea level. It’s a 12.6 mile round trip with a 6 mile climb to start with and when completed we will receive a medal and a certificate which will be given to Tommy’s parents.

Tommy loves paw patrol, animals and chocolate milk. He loves his big brothers Eoghan 9, Leon 8, Eric 19 and big sister Shannon 6. Tommy is funny, affectionate and had just started play school.

Just before Halloween last year Tommy was brought to hospital with croup after a series of other illnesses but Tommy didn’t recover at home as expected from a seasonal virus.

His mammy Roisin knew something wasn’t right and when she brought him to two more hospitals it wasn’t until the doctors at Our lady of Lourdes hospital in Drogheda saw how life threatening his illness was and rushed him to Temple Street ICU Dublin by ambulance.

After multiple tests and days of agony Tommy’s parents were utterly devastated to be told that Tommy had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. He spent five weeks in ICU in Crumlin Childrens Hospital on and off a ventilator hooked up to multiple drips of antibiotics and drugs.

He started chemotherapy on the 5th of November and has just completed his final chemo session last month after a total of 52 rounds in little over 4 months.

He’s still smiling, still making every moment count. His attitude, strong character, resilience, determination strength and happiness while undergoing the fight of his life is incredible.

We are praying his body responds to the treatment. Tommy’s cancer is so rare that the course of chemotherapy he is undergoing is being tested. It’s still unknown what subtype of AML cancer he has as it’s only seen in elderly people.

He has a long road ahead of him and it’s a miracle that Tommy has defied the odds so far. He has fought so many infections including pneumonia, RSV and sepsis so far.

All we want is Tommy to be on the right road to recovery and we want him home to his brothers and sisters as soon as possible.

This go fund me page is a means of financially supporting Tommy’s family to focus on getting him better, to be by his side constantly.
Tommy’s parents must remain by his side and the other parent needs to mind the 3 primary school children at home.

This is the greatest challenge Tommy’s family have ever had to face. Your help and support, no matter how small will make a real difference.
Let’s do this,
