My dear friend Tracy, having been diagnosed with terminal cancer, is undergoing chemo treatment but we have recently learned that it isn’t working as hoped, and it’s now clear she has very little time left. A fact that is utterly shattering and something I have tried to write 50 different ways but still can’t bring myself to believe, let alone comprehend what that means for Tracy’s husband (Jamesie) and 14-month old son (Bosie).
Those close to Tracy have already done incredible things to support bucket-list experiences for Tracy to share with her boys, and I wanted to share what I’m hoping to do myself, and why…
At the end of September this year I’ll be (attempting to) climb Mount Kilimanjaro in an effort to raise funds for Tracy’s boys for when she can no longer be with them. Crucially, any funds raised will support the mental well-being of Bosie as he grows and processes such a profound loss. As she would, Tracy has thought about it all, prepared in every way possible, and planned all she can, but Bosie will need resources as he grows to help him deal with the grief. The funds raised will help with this and also offer support in other ways, for example for Bosie and Jamesie to visit the places that have meant most to Tracy, so Bosie can learn about his incredible mother.
Of course, for us all, money is a personal thing, and I appreciate you may not know Tracy (or even me) personally, but any contribution big or small would mean the world to me, my dear friend and her family who are very close to my heart - thank you so much!
