Climb for Cornhill

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Louise and I am fundraising for Cornhill MacMillan Centre in Perth.

At the end of March 2024, my granny (Maureen Smith) sadly lost her battle with cancer after 4 years. My granny spent her final days at Cornhill MacMillan Centre in Perth where she received the utmost compassionate care from the Cornhill staff

Cornhill Macmillan Centre is a purpose-built Specialist Palliative Care Unit staffed by a dedicated team. Services provided are for people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses and are managed by NHS Tayside with ongoing support and involvement from Macmillan Cancer Support.
Speaking from personal experience, all staff members went above and beyond their nursing duties by doing all they could to provide support and comfort to all of their patients and families.

I cannot express how grateful I am for Cornhill. My family were overwhelmed by the support they provided. From coming in to provide physical care for my granny, popping their heads in for a chat or keeping her company at night, the staff were there for her during every moment, until the very end. And for that, we are most grateful. As well as the patients, when things got hard for the family, the staff were there to be our shoulder to cry on.

Before my granny passed away she would often express how much she loved our caravan holiday to Fort William with the whole family when we were kids. A fond memory from that trip was the Nevis Range Mountain Gondola. The Mountain Gondola was an amazing experience as a kid, we felt like we were on top of the world and something we will not forget about that holiday.

With all that in mind, I want to do my part to give back and show how truly thankful I am to Cornhill. On the 3rd of August 2024, my sister, 3 friends and I are going to climb Ben Nevis for Cornhill MacMillan Centre and to also honour my granny's memory.

By raising money, we will provide extra support in various ways:
  • Bereavement and family support
  • volunteer transport service
  • complementary therapies
  • hairdressing
  • funding specific projects to improve services
  • additional patient comfort and equipment

Your donations will directly support this incredible facility, helping them continue to provide comfort and support to others. Please let us come together to celebrate my granny's life and make a meaningful difference for those in need.

Any little helps.

Many Thanks

The Climb for Cornhill Team!
