We, J.R. Burton and Ben Ho, met in 4th grade after Ben moved to Old Greenwich and started at a new school. This August, we will be attempting to summit Mount Kilimanjaro. Before we begin our climb, we are committed to giving back by raising funds to support a nearby primary school in Arusha, Tanzania.
Recently, the school was damaged by heavy rains, and as a result, critical infrastructure was demolished. However, students at Kisololi Primary School continue to learn. We are focused on fundraising for three of the school’s critical needs. These include restrooms for students, who have to share toilets with the nearby Harambee School. This is a concerning situation as it could lead to a cholera outbreak. Additionally, the school does NOT have access to a safe water source, so they depend on river streams as their source of drinking and cooking water. Lastly, a fence will reduce cases of students getting attacked by perpetrators and make it easier to monitor students while in school. As a bonus, we plan to bring recreational and playground equipment with us on our trip to be used in the newly secured outdoor space and to keep learning fun for students!
We kindly ask you to donate and support our cause to help those who are less fortunate. EVERY DONATION HELPS!
