I'm organizing a two-night showcase of the play Climate Monologues, featuring local performers of all backgrounds and experience levels. Our goal is to bring the community together through an open casting call, giving everyone a chance to participate and share their voice on the urgent topic of climate change. The funds raised will help us secure a venue for the performances and cover the rights to the script, ensuring we can bring this important production to life. In order to ensure the rights for the Climate Monologues, a donation of $300 will be given to https://irthlingz.org/
The Climate Monologues is a play created by Sharon Abreu, inspired by the stories of passionate everyday people moved to action by climate change and fossil fuel energy in their lives and communities. Heart, humor, and inspiration resound through personal stories accented by original songs, celebrating the human spirit while exploring solutions to the greatest challenge of our time. Sharon has performed The Climate Monologues at the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival and the United Solo Theatre Festival in New York, and received the “Spirit of Nature, Ecology & Society” Environmental Justice Award for her performance at the City University of New York. Sharon began using her voice and music for climate change education in 1999, performing with legendary folksinger Pete Seeger and singing for Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai. In 2002, she and her partner Michael Hurwicz started the nonprofit Irthlingz Arts-Based Environmental Education.
This project is about more than just theater—it's about making a real difference. A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit the Southern Oregon Climate Action Network, supporting their ongoing work to protect our environment. By attending or supporting this event, donors will help amplify the message of climate action and community engagement.
With your support, we can create a memorable event that inspires change and strengthens our local commitment to environmental protection. Every contribution brings us closer to making this vision a reality, and we can't wait to share this experience with you.
