Climate Change Book by 9yo

My daughter Esther, an almost 5th grader, came up with the idea of this book after she learned about environmental problems and climate change in her 4th grade science class. Like any kid her age she loves unicorns and narwhals. She came up to me (her mom, also an environmental scientist) to ask about why narwhals were losing their home. I started to explain the situation to her. She didn't want the narwhals to lose their home (and doesn't want us to lose ours as well!) and this is how the idea came about. Esther, like a lot of young people today, are anxious about the world that we are leaving them with. I helped write a lot of the book based on Esther's imagination and Sparky is inspired by her. The questions Esther asked me, are the same questions that are in the book too.

Raising money to partly fund publishing this book through our US publisher, and having this book available as widely as possible. We hope we can get the book published by end 2019.

Details of the book:

- 5 book series of around 3,000 words each. 

- target audience: 6-10 years old

- Title: Sparky and Ben's Adventures

- Plot: Sparky is a 7 year old narwhal (aka unicorn of the sea) and her best friend, Ben (beluga whale) live in the Arctic. One day, Sparky overheard from her parents that they might lose their home. She and Ben are on a mission to find out who is destroying their home, why and how it's being destroyed and what they can do to stop it.

- Spoiler alert: The books will explain climate change through the eyes of a young child in the image of Sparky and Ben. They will meet the "aliens" who are destroying their homes (people) and will work with them to stop not only the destruction of their own home, but of the only home we all got - Earth.
