Cliffy's Urgent Heart Surgery: Your Help Needed

What a tremendous community of support we have - in just a couple days, 20 friends have brought us nearly a quarter of the way to Cliffy’s goal. He’s continuing to be optimistic no matter what, and is deeply appreciative to those who have contributed what you can! We’ll continue to update you all as time goes on! Hey friends and family… I know you’re used to me fundraising for one cause or another.

This is different and far more difficult. This past week, my life partner, “Cliffy,” as he’s known by my daughter, “Buddy” as he’s known by his close family, and “Dad” by those who know best and love him dearly, found out that he needs a life-saving surgery on June 20th - sooner if possible, but the surgery is scheduled.

He will have to be out of work for 6 weeks following open-heart surgery, and because he hasn’t been at his new job for a year yet, he doesn’t qualify for FMLA and doesn’t have enough PTO or sick time built up to cover this period. While he had some savings set aside, another set of circumstances has used that up.

We could really use your help. Anyone who knows Cliffy knows he can be stubborn and almost never asks for anything from anyone. Rather, he’s usually the one helping others. He finally relented and allowed me to post this request for assistance.

As you can imagine, Cliffy is scared - we’re both in a bit of shock over the news and we’re a bit panicked in general. This man has been such a tremendous father - not only to his own three kids - who adore him - but to my own daughter, who affectionately refers to him as her “bonus dad.” He needs this surgery and leading up to it, he needs the peace of mind knowing he will financially make it through this without stressing others - the stress of it all is only worsening his condition.

With his need to be out of work and unpaid for that long, we’re hoping those who are able might be able to contribute something toward this fund to help offset his expenses.
