Clifford Zahnow Jr

Our brother Cliff (in green shirt) recently had some health changes. Cliff is 55 years old and recently spent over a month in the hospital due to he lost his vision. Cliff started this journey at the Fargo Hospital when diagnosed with chronic kidney failure and could not see, it was all darkness for him. Fargo kidney MD told Cliff he has seen cases like this and some do get sight back in 4-6 weeks. We are all holding on to this hope, but the longer Cliff cannot see our window is closing. Fargo Hospital started dialysis and wanted to send Cliff to U of M in Minneapolis right away but couldn't due to they did not have any open beds. Our brother was at Fargo for one and half weeks and then was transported to University of MN to hopefully find answers. The U of M ran several tests to begin eliminating the reason(s) why our brother was in kidney failure and lost his vision. U of M did 5 dialysis and 5 steroid treatments in addition to what was given at Fargo Hospital. Then it was the waiting game to see how the body would react to these treatments. After weeks of tests, blood draws, dialysis, treatments, scans, eye appointments, and spinal tap the doctors cannot give us any clear answers as to why our brother lost his vision. Cliff's hope began to fade as we were not getting any answers and he was starting to go through all the signs of grief. To date it has been over 34 days since our brother lost his vision and doctors now feel he may not get his sight back due to there is no blood flow from brain to his eyes. This is a harsh reality for Cliff to grasp, after all the years of hard work and living life the way Cliff wanted, it changed in an instant for him. Cliff will need to modify is life to live without his sight. Cliff is a hard working individual who always looked out for others, and now we are asking not only for prayers but some help for Cliff with paying medical bills.
