Cleo Needs Help for her Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, there. My name’s Cleo. I’m a nine-month old puppy of mixed pedigree and I just arrived in Canada. They tell me I’m an adorable <blush>, affectionate and super happy. I also happen to need a surgery that will remove one of my legs.
I know that sounds alarming, but please don’t worry! I’m told that’s not a huge deal for dogs and that I’m going to get around just fine. The best part? The vet says it’ll mean my leg won’t hurt anymore when I walk. (I’m also told dogs are basically three-legged with a spare! )
Anyway, here’s my story:
My new mom, Jenie, who is an attendance secretary at a high school, was visiting family in Italy this past summer when she found me outside her door, one morning. See, I used to have a family, but they didn’t treat me very well and left me behind. I was hungry and scared, and Jenie scooped me up and took the best care of me. She also took me to the doctor who tried to fix my broken leg. After hanging out for half the summer, Jenie decided I should come live with her in Canada, so she brought me to my new home in Toronto. Life here is pretty great: I’ve got tons of love, food, parks and toys to enjoy.
Jenie also took me to see a new doctor, who says that my broken leg didn’t heal properly and now the best thing to do is remove it. He says i’ll adapt just fine to three legs and I won’t be in pain anymore.
That sounds pretty good to me.
If you’re able to help my mom cover a small bit of the cost of this surgery - $4,500 - that would be amazing. My life here in Canada is already pretty wonderful. Getting this surgery would make it pretty close to perfect.
Thank you!

Update: As word spread about Cleo, we got some great advice and were directed to a wonderful new vet who is able to do the surgery at a more reasonable cost. Because of this, we’ve adjusted our fundraising target :)
