BOLD JOE's UoB Xtra Campus 3K Run

Clem Atkins is organising this fundraiser on behalf of Birmingham LGBT.

DING DONG. I have signed up to run the UoB Xtra Campus 3K on Wednesday 11th June 2025.

And if YOU sponsor me, I will run around campus in full drag attire as ✨BOLD JOE✨ - the femmebodiment of the University's iconic Old Joe clocktower.

All funds raised will be donated to the Birmingham LGBT Centre – a charity which helped me massively during my lowest points and supported me throughout my transitioning journey.

Birmingham LGBT provides support for the LGBT Community in Birmingham and beyond, including sexual health, domestic violence, counselling, wellbeing services and more. Their objective is to raise awareness of the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people, to advocate for their needs to the wider community and to promote opportunities.

It has been recommended that I don't run in heels or wedges, but I absolutely will if I exceed my fundraising goal of £400.

9th May Update - Well, well, well... if it isn't the consequences of my own actions. It seems I was underambitious in my monetary goal. We'll never truly know if altruism or sadism got us here (perhaps both?). Anyway, I have upped the total fundraising goal, but I am a man of my word. Time to go shoe shopping.

23rd May Update - It's one day to go before I first unveil Bold Joe tomorrow. I just finished my hat. My fiancé had informed me that I look like a "f*cked up Willy Wonka". Stay tuned.

28th May Update - Watch out... looks like this diva has TWO faces.

29th May 2025 Update - With this week's donations, including a generous contribution from the UoB's Sport and Fitness department (thank you!) this fundraiser has reached a whopping £700! I never could have imagined that so much could be raised in such a short space of time, especially with my initial goal being £400! I am deeply grateful for all the support shown so far. With the 11th June run a few weeks away, I have raised the total fundraiser goal to £800. Let's keep up the momentum and show the LGBT Centre our support!
