Bridgette's Medical Bill Fund

Our 4 year old, Bridgette had a terrible fall off her Dad’s shoulders while playing basketball with him and her big brother on Sunday, January 22.  She was rushed to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with a cranial fracture and bleeding on the brain. The doctors diagnosed her with traumatic brain injury and she had all of the classic signs of a very serious concussion: throwing up, headaches, sleepiness and irritation. Although the prognosis was (and still is) good for a full recovery, Bridgette was discharged after three days, only to be readmitted the next day with more vomiting and an inability to keep down her meds. After nearly a week in the hospital Bridgette, Mom and Dad finally were able to head home to see her big brother. 

The prognosis is still good, but a full recovery will take time, therapy and patience.  Bridgette still cannot take too much stimulation or noise, and needs to be careful about bumping her head or being jostled.  Therefore, for now, returning to pre-school is out of the question.

As you can imagine, beyond the stress of the accident, the Claytor’s hospital bills have steadily accrued. They have medical insurance; however, the out of pocket hospital expenses alone are over $10,000. Return to employment is essential in maintaining their benefits. In the meantime, they are looking into a professional daycare service for Bridgette so that she can recover for the next few weeks at home while Mom and Dad resume their work schedules.

The Claytors are both employed in service industries. Mom is a respiratory tech at a local Cincinnati hospital and Dad serves Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky as a local plumber. Friends and family have asked how they can help.  If you can find it in your heart to contribute to their Go Fund Me page, it would be greatly appreciated. No contribution is too small. It may help provide a meal for the family, or perhaps help to pay for a professional sitter while their 4 year old recovers at home.
