Love for Abby

This fundraiser is for my granddaughter, Abby Claytor. Recently Abby was seen by her doctor after not shaking some symptoms from strep throat. After her lab work returned unfavorable information, Abby was sent to the ER. She was then transported from Mary Washington to VCU Children's Hospital in Richmond. Since February 2nd Abby has endured a kidney biopsy, a bone marrow extraction, a port placement, several rounds of dialysis, and blood transfusions. Unfortunately, her immune system is attacking her kidneys. We are still awaiting some test results, and her diagnosis could change with new information as it comes in. So far, we know she has an autoimmune disease; it is suspected to be GPA Disease, again this could change. Abby’s kidneys are in bad shape. She will require dialysis three times a week and infusion therapy once a week. At some point, she will need a kidney transplant. She is such a brave girl and has only complained about getting IVs and not being able to eat!

The continuing trips from Fredericksburg to Richmond several times a week are going to add up fast. Medical bills, medication costs, missed time from work, other needs that we don’t even know about yet, will all cause more stress on Abby's parents as there are two younger siblings at home to be cared for. But, if we can pull together, I’m sure we can ease some of that financial load and help Andrew and Samantha focus on the care of all three daughters. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
