Support Clayton and Family Through Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Talia and this is my cousin Clayton.
On Wednesday, June 21st, on his way to play basketball with friends, Clayton suffered from a cardiac event while behind the wheel, which caused him to lose consciousness, veer off the road, and crash. Efforts from a neighbor and first responders ultimately saved his life. We are eternally grateful to those who made that effort. Clayton's friends, including my brother Aaron, saw the first responders drive by and called Clayton. After no answer, they opened Life360 which showed him off the road and notified them that he had come to an abrupt stop. When they arrived at the scene, they asked the officer blocking off the road what happened. When the officer confirm the color of the car being Clayton’s, they followed them to the hospital.
He was taken to Grandview Hospital where they kept him in a medically induced coma to help his body come back to a stable point. When he finally woke up on Friday, he was back to the jokester we all know him as, making everyone he sees laugh. After three days at Grandview Hospital, he has been transferred to Penn Medicine where efforts are being made to test and ultimately treat his weak heart. He still has a long way to go in his recovery journey but we are so grateful for where he is now.
For those of you that may not know Clayton here is a little bit about him. Clayton is a hilarious, kind-hearted, loving, and active kid who spends most of his time outside of working with his friends and family. He enjoys playing and watching sports. All he seems to do is smile and try to make those close to him happier every day. He is full of strength and love which will help guide him through his recovery. We love our Clayman.
The most important thing in a time like this is support. We are lucky to have such an amazing support system helping Clayton and his family through this. It’s like a revolving door of visitors coming to see him and to give his parents much-needed breaks. We as a family are reaching out to our peers for support through this tough time. Anything will help to put the family’s mind at ease while being there for Clayton through his recovery. The money will go to his parents, Ashley and Dave, to pay for the medical expenses.
To anyone reading this thank you and we appreciate you taking the time out of your day!
