UPDATE 12/12/2025

Thank you to all the people who have so generously helped with this fundraiser. Clayton is both surprised and appreciative for the response and help. He was not expecting the volume of ‘pay it forwards’ that this page has seen. Out of tragedy he has seen love, community, generosity and incredible kindness. Thank you to all who turned such an awful experience into such a great response.

Clayton Whisamore returned home on November 10, 2025, to find his house burning from a wood stove fire. He had been at a friend’s house, helping them, and fortunately, Bella and Molly, his two dogs, had been with him. His house was a total loss. He had purchased and lived in the house since 2000, when his friend Kristen Meyer helped him finish the partially built structure. He lost his home and, more importantly, he lost all his family photos and memorabilia. Anyone who knows Clayton knows how much family and memories meant to him. The house was not insured—Clayton’s very limited and restricted disability income did not give him the financial ability to buy insurance. Clayton has always stepped up to help anyone he could, being a generous and kind-hearted neighbor and friend.

It is our turn to help Clayton. Tim Moerlein, Darrell Foister, Chad Anderson and Gregory Bosick have begun the work of clearing the rubble and starting construction on a modest replacement home for Clayton, Bella, and Molly. They have already contributed so much work on this project. Tim figures that combined with volunteer help, assorted donations of construction supplies, and $30,000, Clayton can be safely housed. These funds will go to the construction and some minor interior furnishings for the home. Clayton has some ‘spare’ furnishings in storage that he will be able to use.
