Clay Miles’ Cigar Lounge Comedy Tour — Two Years, One Van, A Thousand Laughs
The Leap
For over 20 years, I’ve been making people laugh — from military bases to smoky cigar lounges — telling stories, sharing truths, and connecting with audiences in a way that feels more like a conversation than a show.
Now I’m taking the biggest leap of my career: hitting the road full-time, living in a van, and taking my unique “sit-down stand-up” comedy show to every corner of the country.
This isn’t just a road trip. It’s a two-year startup — a chance to build my career into a self-sustaining business while living the van life dream, meeting people where they are, and creating a comedy experience they’ll never forget.
⸻
The Mission
This tour will:
• Bring my comedy to towns that never get shows like this.
• Film a docu-style series showing the real life of a traveling comic.
• Build a grassroots following so I can release specials without Hollywood gatekeepers.
• Create a network of venues that can book other comics once the tour is done.
• Show that you don’t need to be “discovered” — you can build something from the ground up.
⸻
The Goal: $70,000
This covers two full years of touring, filming, and building the business — so the dream doesn’t stall halfway through. It’s not about “scraping by” — it’s about making sure the tour has the fuel, the resources, and the time to succeed.
⸻
Part 1: The Launch Fund — $20,000 (One-Time Costs)
The immediate costs to get the “Comedy Tour Van” ready for full-time living and working:
• Van Purchase & Outfitting: $12,000
• Interior Comfort & Tech Setup: $2,500 (bed, storage, workspace, charging for gear)
• Business & Merch Startup: $3,500 (shirts, hats, cigars — to sell at every show)
• Contingency/Emergency Fund: $2,000
⸻
Part 2: Two-Year Runway — $40,000 (Operating & Living Costs)
The budget to keep the tour alive while I grow the audience and book bigger shows:
• Fuel & Maintenance: $12,000
• Food & Lodging: $18,000 (van will be home, but this covers campgrounds, showers, and the occasional hotel)
• Venue Deposits & Promotions: $6,000
• Insurance (Van & Health): $4,000
⸻
Part 3: Growth & Legacy Fund — $10,000
What turns this from a tour into a movement:
• Professional video & audio recording of multiple sets for future specials
• Nationwide marketing to build a dedicated fanbase
• Development of an online cigar-lounge comedy community to connect audiences long after the tour ends
⸻
Why $70,000?
Because doing this halfway means the tour dies before it has a chance to grow.
This goal ensures I’m not just “getting on the road” — I’m staying on the road for two years, building a business that lasts, and creating something that can continue long after this first tour.
Once the tour is rolling and filmed, I can sell the special, grow the brand, and use this network to bring other comics along.
⸻
The Promise
If you help me do this, you’re not just funding a van. You’re funding a mission:
• To make strangers in every corner of the country laugh.
• To prove that grassroots comedy can be built without Hollywood’s permission.
• To create a touring model that gives other comics opportunities, too.
I’ll be living this tour every single day — on the road, in the van, meeting new people, filming the journey, and sharing it with you.
If you’ve ever laughed at one of my stories, shared a clip, or thought, “Man, he should be everywhere,” — this is how we make it happen.
Let’s put Clay Miles on the road. Let’s light this cigar and go.
