Biography:
My name is Claudio Ortiz. I have cancer. It is hard to accept, but it is a fact. I have been diagnosed with neck squamous cell carcinoma 3 months ago. I considered myself a healthy person all my life, never got life insurance. Then, as I turned 46y/o, I was diagnosed. I am in stage 3 with unknown primary. Which means that a lot of CT scans and lots of lab work done. I have a $7,015 bill from the Cancer Clinic, $401 bill pending from the ENTs office, $233 in lab bills. I need a surgery: A right tonsillectomy and biopsies to see if the primary site is found, that's $2,700 plus anesthesia and surgery ward expenses, which will be another ~$3,000. After that, I have to stay home for 2 weeks, which means no paycheck. After that, they will be able to schedule me for radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Which are going to be other fees. I have my wife, my kids: one 6yrs old and one that's 8yrs which has autism. I wish I had insurance, but I was never able to afford it. I need help to be able to cope with these expenses.
