My name is Kim Depole and I have a very dear friend Claudia Hernandez that needs your compassion.
On October 7th Claudia Hernandez woke to a fire in her 6th floor apartment sublet in Queens. She tried desperately to escape with the son of her friend. He was able to find safety but Claudia collapsed by the window that was locked.
There were NO fire alarms on the entire floor. A FIREFIGHTER saved her and paramedics worked on her for hours. The expert care she received in the NY Presbyterian Burn Center in the Greenberg Pavilion was outstanding . She was on a ventilator for weeks and suffered burns on her legs and feet in addition
to abrasions to her eyes.
She has a long recovery with her lungs. Her friends and family celebrate her strength and determination.
What saved Claudia was her training for the
NYC Marathon.
A long devoted runner she had recently begun preparing for this weekend’s race .
SHE HAS ALREADY WON THE RACE OF HER LIFE
Claudia was released from the hospital today and literally has nothing.
Not a single possession save her computer .
