On Saturday, November 24th, our beloved Claudia, wife of Rich and mother to three beautiful boys, was sent to the emergency room presenting with signs of a stroke. Unfortunately, she ended up being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, Glioblastoma. During a hospital stay where she underwent surgery to remove the tumor, it was also shown in her CAT scan that she has two additional shadows presenting on her brain.
Claudia is an English teacher and literacy coach at Lampeter-Strasburg School District. She is preparing to undergo chemotherapy and radiation in the coming weeks to ensure as much cancer is removed from her brain as possible.
As the primary financial provider to her family of five, there are soon going to be hospital bills and other costs coming in that insurance will not cover. Given the potential impact Claudia’s tumor has on if she may or may not be able to return to work, Claudia’s biggest concern is that her illness does not negatively impact her family’s ability to live and remain in their home.
With the impact on her income, some home maintenance will simply not be attainable.
Long-term goals after paying off hospital bills and ensuring house repairs are complete is Claudia’s desire to create a new, fresh atmosphere in her home for her children to sense the love and support of their mother.
Claudia’s wish is to see these ideals put into action while she is still here to give her some peace of mind. In her words, “I will feel good that I have given them a home for memories where they can continue to learn and grow."
