Claudia Emmons Whitney Swenson

On April 2, the world lost one of the most beautiful people most of us have ever known. Claudia Emmons Whitney Swenson never once met a stranger. In the first conversation she had with someone, they not only became her friend, they became part of her family. Claudia had one brother and no sisters—biologically—however, she had more brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, and grandchildren than anyone, because that’s who we all became to her. I was blessed to call her Mama when she “adopted” me and my boys after the passing of my own mom. So many of us who knew her have similar stories to tell. She touched our lives in profound ways through her depth of love and caring, her positive outlook, her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and most especially—her hugs. Claudia gave them freely and generously and even on the darkest days, one hug from her was all it took to make the sun shine once again.

There was just one thing Claudia wanted when we all came together to celebrate her life—a New Orleans-style second-line procession. We want to make that wish come true and would appreciate your help. On June 1 at noon, we’ll gather at Claudia and Lonnie’s and follow a dixieland band through the streets of Monument to Limbaugh Park where a DJ will take over and play the music Claudia loved so much, and where food and beverages will be available.

The goal for this Go-Fund-Me to raise money to cover the cost of the band and the DJ for this community celebration of her life. Anything you can donate in memory of our dear, sweet, beloved Claudia will be so greatly appreciated.
