My cousin Claude Sutton started to feel run down and coughing about 2 months ago. After having an xray done, he was informed he had 2 10cm masses located in his right lung. The doctors in Saranac Lake ran more tests and found out that the top mass had grown into his heart. Due to the severity of his condition, they transfered him to Albany Med where an oncologist and cardiologist could closely monitor him during his in patient chemo treatments. They also wanted him to be admitted into the hospital for his chemo treatments which can typically be done as out-patient because during the treatment a peice of the tumor could break of and cause a stroke or heart attack causing them to have to perform open heart surgery. Albany is known for having some of the best cardio thoracic doctors which would be on stand by should this happen. On the first day Claude was admitted into albany ned for his first round of chemo. His team of doctors performed additional testing (biopsy, abdomen and brain scan) to see if it was lung cancer that spread to his heart or to see if it was his testicular cancer he had fought a year ago had came back and spread to his lung and his heart. They did the abdominal scan and found out that claude's testicular cancer was back and he had two additional masses in his abdomen. The doctors decided, due to the size of tumors and multiple locations, that he would need a minimum of 4 rounds of chemo every 2-3 weeks (each round lasting 5-6 days). On the off weeks, from chemo he has to travel with his wife, Yvonne to Albany every Thursday for shots to boost up his white blood cells and bone marrow, blood work to make sure his kidneys and liver are functioning properly and fluids. Things have began to become stressful for Claude and Yvonne financially. My cousins are struggling to make ends meet while they travel for appointments and treatment. This is putting an extra financial burned on them as they have to have extra money for gas, food and other essential expenses. All of this is required so that he can beat this aggressive cancer. Soon, due to the aggressive chemo he is taking, he will require 24/7 care. Due to the current pandemic and other sicknesses, he has to be careful to not get sick himself. The next several months are going to be hard on them and they need all the support they can get. They have 2 children at home that are hoping for their lives to get back to normal and for their father to beat his cancer. None of this is easy for them, so please if you could help in any way possible, it would be more appreciated than you will ever realize. Thank you and we will keep you updated on how he progresses.
*UPDATE* Claude was just diagnosed with brain cancer less than a week ago. The cancer in his abdomen must have broke of and went to his brain. He just got out of a very risky surgery and is okay at the moment, but for the 24 - 48 hours complications could happen. There will also be some lasting effects from the 5 cm tumor that was in his brain. He still has a little bit of cancer in his abdomen as well. If you can't donate please keep up in your thoughts. We can use all of the help we can get.
*UPDATE 2* Claude was doing better after brain surgery, but apparently his brain started swelling again. They now have to go back down to Albany Med to figure out what is going on now. All of our previous donations were refunded to everyone because of something that I forgot to set up. We have regained some donations and are grateful for everyone's help. Please help us all. Thank you.
