Classical Cleveland presents afternoon concerts at Marske Leisure Centre on the third Thursday of the month. At present, concerts are slightly restricted because the Centre has only an upright piano. Although it is in mint condition an upright lacks the versatility of a grand piano when it comes to classical recitals.
We have been offered a Bechstein Grand, free of charge, by a church in County Durham where it is now surplus to requirements. The cost of overhauling the keyboard, transporting it to Marske and purchasing a new cover will be around £1,800. Grants for arts-related projects are proving hard to come by.
We need to raise the £1800 by 31st January, after which the piano will be offered to other groups. Please help if you can, then we can start presenting piano recitals again.
(Note the piano is mahogany, not black)
Please note that the £953 'already raised' refers to the support received 2 years ago as we recovered from the Covid lockdowns.
