Class rewards store for a distance learning pod
Donation protected
Hello!
I'm sure you can imagine that COVID has presented students across the world with an inordinate challenge, requiring focus and autonomy beyond developmental ability in many cases.
I am the co-leader of a pod of 20 distance learner's from Shoreline Middle School in Santa Cruz, CA. These students were hand selected to complete their daily distance learning in a supervised on-site pod because of a lack of supervision at home, or because they are struggling with distance learning more than their peers. My task is to help remediate their academic achievement, and to motivate them daily to stay on track until students can return to school as normal under the watchful eye of their teachers.
I believe that efforts should always be rewarded, as is the way of the adult world. Thus am asking that if you feel compassion for the situation of students during the pandemic, and have the means for generosity, that you contribute towards funding our class store. Students have been earning "shark bucks" for attendance, focus during class, completion of work, and citizenship towards their fellow pod members. Your donation will help fund the rewards that will be the fruit of their efforts and positively reinforce their resilience in the face of this great adversity.
Our goal of $1000 ensures that 20 students can earn up to $75 worth of prizes for their diligence and academic effort for the remainder of the school year.
(Any residual funds will be divided into gift cards for watch student for clothing, food or school supplies at the end of the year. )
Many thanks,
Ryan
