Clasey's Mobility Makeover

Donation protected
Meet Clasey, an extraordinary individual who faces life's challenges with remarkable strength and an unyielding spirit. Her journey is defined by her determination to overcome the hurdles posed by Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and Charcot Marie Tooth (a progressive neurological disease). Despite these trials, Clasey remains a beacon of hope and positivity.

Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Charcot Marie Tooth Disease (CMT) have significantly impacted Clasey's daily life. The progressive nature of CMT has led to a loss of sensation in her left foot, making each step harder by the day.

Her path is not without its share of struggles. Clasey has undergone a staggering seven surgeries across her body, with two more looming on the horizon. Each surgery symbolizes her unwavering commitment to reclaiming her health and independence.

Since October 2020, Clasey has been unable to work full-time due to her conditions, leading to severe financial strain. Despite her best efforts, doctors have not cleared her for employment. However, her determination to make a difference continues to shine. While recovering from her most recent hip surgery, she obtained her EKG Tech certificate so when she was done recovering, she was ready to enter the workforce. Unfortunately, she has had to put any hopes of working in a hospital on pause as she continues to be the patient.

Living in a non-accessible living space, Clasey faces daily challenges navigating stairs, the bathroom, and other obstacles that hinder her mobility. Even the simple task of entering or exiting her apartment requires meticulous planning and assistance (including an unstable portable ramp and another person).

Together, we can give Clasey a mobility makeover and she can feel the true independence of a 27-year-old woman. By contributing to her fundraiser, you are directly impacting Clasey's quality of life. Your generous support will help her reach her financial goals: Approximately $60,000 for a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, approximately $50,000 for a start on an accessible home/housing modifications to enhance her living conditions, approximately $6,000 for a power-assisted wheelchair to redefine her mobility, and approximately $2,000 to provide her somewhat of a cushion during these next 2 surgeries.

EDIT (September 29th, 2023): Clasey had her 8th surgery where she had a screw that was retracting, removed from her hip to hopefully alleviate some pain.
