In the early hours of Saturday June 1st 2019 Clarissa Lockett (known to her close family as Shea) was violently ambushed in her Oakland home by a known assailant. As a result of this crime, Shea suffered a gun shot wound to the head that shattered her skull and damaged the right frontal lobe of her brain and eye socket. The bullet still remains lodged in her skull and doctors say that surgery may be life threatening if she decides to undergo the procedure due to severe brain swelling. Shea’s
vision has been affected and may be a permanent disability as her dominant left side of her body is still slightly paralyzed.
Due to the severity of her injuries sustained, Shea is unable to return to work as an electrical apprentice for the Local 6 IBEW. Additionally, Shea is unable to return to her home in Oakland and will need to be relocated to San Francisco so she can continue vigorous therapy sessions to gain back mobility.
Aftercare will need to include 24 hour assistance from a caretaker to ensure proper healing and well being.
The family is asking that you donate any amount to provide support to alleviate financial stress that Shea will endure throughout her rehabilitation process. The insurance she receives will not cover costs for possible neurological surgery, an ongoing hospital stay as well as any follow up care needed in regards to her severe brain trauma.
As a successful graduate of the City Build Program in San Francisco and aspiring entrepreneur, Shea will need ongoing unconditional support and prayers from everyone to get well in hopes to heal from this tragic event and return to a normal life. Her charismatic attitude, hard work ethic and upbeat personality is void during this time of transition.
We the family believe Wholeheartedly that sharing her story will shed light upon this senseless act of violence in hopes to capture the known suspect and bring justice forward.
Two weeks after the attack, the suspect still remains at large and multiple law enforcement agencies are doing their best to investigate the crime and apprehend the assailant.
If you or anyone has any information, please reach out to law enforcement.
