Claremont Equestrian Team

Donation protected
The 5C Claremont Equestrian Team provides an opportunity for students to explore the sport of equitation through lessons as well as competitions. For those who are not in the position to afford to ride lessons and competition fees, the team works to provide subsidies where it would normally not be economically feasible. We aim to provide a subsidy rider from each of the Claremont Colleges to allow potential riders to join from all walks of life. The sport of equitation is very expensive and to meet the goals we need the generous help of the public. The more funding we have the more it increases diversity in the sport which is historically composed mostly of the white upper class. While competitions are fun and are an important time for team bonding, financially it is not possible to strengthen the connections in the college community for a sport such as equitation.

We apply for funding every semester from the college, but it is not enough to pay our coach and continue to provide the opportunity to ride to those who cannot afford it. There are people beyond the riders like our coach who use funding such as the ones from school to make a living. There is proof to show that the money we are being given is going somewhere worthwhile. Every rider who competed in the show won ribbons and the majority of riders were competing for the first time ever!

We will continue to win, representing the Claremont Colleges among schools such as UCLA, USC, Arizona, Chapman, and more. Donate today!
