Hey everyone ❤️
So, on the 31st of October, our amazing Clare was admitted to the QEUH after some abnormal blood results. Expecting to be in and out, she was on the phone moaning and groaning about being in there “yet again” and how she wanted out already — which we all assumed she would be, the next day, as she usually was. Hospital stays weren’t unusual for Clare; her family often had to force her to go in when she was unwell. She’d get treated, bounce back, and be home (or back at work♀️) overdoing it as usual, before anyone really knew what had happened.
Sadly, this time was different. Clare’s condition deteriorated quickly, and she was transferred to the GJNH as doctors suspected a heart attack — yet her heart was perfect ❤️
Post procedure, Clare deteriorated and went into cardiac arrest. Although her heart was restarted, she remained critical and was moved to ICU, intubated and ventilated (and we can all just imagine the disgust on her face if she’d known ). The medical team worked tirelessly to save her, consulting specialists across the UK for advice and trialling many medications and treatments.
Despite their best efforts, Clare’s condition couldn’t be reversed, and she suddenly but peacefully passed away on Sunday, the 2nd of November, surrounded by her loving family. This loss was devastating and completely unexpected — she was just 52 years old.
Clare leaves behind her devoted husband, three young children, and her sister, all of whom are still in complete shock at losing such an incredible woman — full of energy, humour, and kindness. Not to mention the ever-growing team of cats she adored (and tried to hide from Denis ), who will surely be wondering where their human mum has gone.❤️
Clare was the heart of every room — always putting others before herself, donating whatever she could to any charity events, and working tirelessly, right up until the day she was admitted to hospital.
What makes this loss even more heartbreaking is that it came just one month after Clare returned from a once-in-a-lifetime family holiday — a trip filled with laughter, love, and precious memories. No one could have imagined that only weeks later, she would no longer be with us. The suddenness of her passing has left an unimaginable emptiness in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her. ❤️
With Christmas just around the corner — a time meant for family, gifts, joy, and togetherness — we are now trying to raise funds to give Clare the beautiful farewell she so deeply deserves. Any donation, big or small, will help ease the financial burden during this heartbreaking time and allow us to give our Clare a send-off worthy of the amazing person she was.
Thank you all for your kindness, love, and support. ❤️
