Clara's Road to Recovery - Burn Accident

Hi, we are Olivia & Eva Manuel and we are fundraising on behalf of our sister Clara who suffered 2nd & 3rd degree burns over 40% of her body on August 8th, 2023 while cooking at her home. Scalding hot cooking oil spilled all down both legs, and splattered across her left arm, both hands, and her face and neck, and she was taken by ambulance to the local hospital emergency room. Upon evaluation at the closest burn clinic, she was immediately admitted and scheduled for skin graft surgery to replace all of the skin tissue that was damaged beyond repair. As you can imagine, burns cause excruciating pain, and skin grafts are even more intense. She will be hospitalized until the grafts take, and she can begin physical therapy. While she has medical insurance, her out of pocket costs could be as much as $24k because the closest burn center is considered "out of network" and coverage is limited as a result. In addition, Clara is a self employed wedding photographer and will be unable to work while she recovers and undergoes physical therapy.
