Clara Burnham is a loving mother and wife of 21 years. She has worked as a veterinary tech in Galloway up until her diagnosis.
Clara was diagnosed with throat cancer earlier last year. While radiation therapy successfully treated the cancer in her throat, it unfortunately impacted her ability to chew and swallow, leading to the need for a feeding tube. Although the throat cancer is now gone, it has since spread to her bones, causing a series of additional diagnoses and complications. Clara had been receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments every 21 days, but these treatments have been paused due to her difficulty with mobility.
Clara is currently facing a number of health challenges, including malignant neoplasms of the tongue, head, face, and neck, a secondary malignant neoplasm of the bone, hypokalemia, occlusion and stenosis of the left anterior cerebral artery, and more. She also has a fractured lumbar vertebra, which has caused sciatica pain throughout her body.
On February 19, 2025, Clara was transferred from Atlanticare Regional Medical Center to Our Lady Rehabilitation Center, where she has been receiving care in an inpatient facility. At this time, there is no set date for her discharge.
This ongoing medical journey has placed a financial burden on the Burnham family. With the household now relying on a single income and medical expenses not fully covered by insurance, the family is navigating a very difficult situation. Clara’s road to recovery will be long, and your kindness and generosity will mean so much to them as they continue to face these obstacles.
