My name is Claralisa James . It hurts me to even be in the position that I need to ask for help. My mom Marshall Chance “Precious” transitioned today May 03,2025 at 9:53pm . After being sick and it not getting better she went to the hospital on February 6 she was told she had an upper respiratory infection & sent home with antibiotics. Only to be returned by ambulance February 11 . She stayed for a week getting IV antibiotics but she also was not eating much . From her discharge on February 17 she got progressively worse. She couldn’t walk , she couldn’t switch positions in bed without shortness of breath. I cared for her for 30 days at home . On the 27th day she started to refuse food and water all together but I was still able to convince her to take some sips or spoonfuls. By the 30th day she became lethargic and delirious and that’s when I knew whatever was going on went from bad to worse. When I called the ambulance they told me she was septic and rushed her off to Health Central . From March 11 - April 11 my mom’s body fought hard ! April 11 they sent her home and at the time I wasn’t aware that I could’ve disputed the discharge . She was not any better . Still not able to walk . Still delirious but she would drink very few sips of her water. This went on for a week and something told me my mom was worse than I was being told or led to believe . April 18 she returned to the hospital and was immediately intubated. She was in respiratory failure . Blood oxygen in the 70s . I haven’t heard her voice since that day saying she was scared . After being on the vent with chest tubes heavy sedation and paralytics for 2 weeks everything started to fail. Unfortunately I didn’t have life insurance for her . I never thought that this would be me so soon . Calling funeral homes , being quoted all this money that I don’t have . My mom leaves behind 5 kids & 2 grandkids who she loves beyond words . Our ages are 28, 26 , 22 , 13, 7 & 9, 11 I will make it my life’s mission to take care of them all like they are my own. I haven't been able to work in a few months because of everything that's been going on. I’m asking if you can help me with anything. Giving was her love language-literally and she loved to love on people. She loved to make people laugh and turn up. She was there for many people when she didn't even have it to give. So I’m asking on behalf of my mom , my siblings and I . Please help me with the costs her Memorial Service anything will help us to cover these unexpected expenses .
