Clara Romero was know as “mom” and “nana” to everyone who knew her. She was born in Colorado and resided in Arizona until she moved here to Hutchinson to live with her daughter Sophia Montaldo in July of 2021. After having multiple medical complications the family decided to move her to the Hutchinson Health and rehab in September of 2021. Shortly after being there, in October she contacted covid (due to the lack of cleaning at the facility) and ended up in the ICU at the Hutchinson hospital for over a month. Once she was home she then again had gotten sick with pneumonia and became septic which sent her to KU medical center for 2 weeks once again incubated in the ICU in late November. Miraculously by the faith of god she was back to her normal self but on the night of December 25th nana fell out of her wheelchair and hit her head. The Staff contacted my mother saying they weren’t going to take her to the hospital but would keep an close eye on her throughout the night. At 7 a.m. December 26th the morning shift nurse called my mother notifying her that she had passed. The hardest part was that my mother and I had to reclean her body. Clara Romero’s death was sudden and unexpected. My family is at a loss of words and are heartbroken because it was simply not her time to go.
The funeral home is asking for $750.00 up front before they will go pick my nana up at the home. Anything would be greatly appreciate so we can get my nana to her final resting place. Thank you for your time.
