Clara and El's South West Coast Path Fundraiser
Hello hello!
We are Clara Pople and El Lowther and we are walking the South West Coast Path for charity! We are both from Cumbria and during lockdown, discovered the joy of walking, both in the Howgills and in the Lake District generally. (El has walked at least 59 Wainwrights over the past year and Clara has been yomping through the Howgills, discovering the beauty of her home territory while listening to lots of Harry Potter.)
This summer we have decided to take on the challenge of walking the gruelling 630 mile coastal path from Minehead to Poole. We are raising money for 2 charities - all proceeds will be split equally.
The first charity is Key4Life - Jack Winter's leg up legacy. This charity is close to my heart as it was created in the name of my friend Jack Winter who sadly died of cancer in 2018. Key4Life offers a rehabilitation programme to young offenders in order to reduce re-offending. This fund was created in Jack's name and is used for turning ex-prison vans into burger vans, where participants from the charity are given jobs and are taught valuable skills such as business and customer service. The other half of the fundraising will be donated to the ZeroGravity fund. Zero Gravity is a tech company and side by side, runs a fund that offers talented state school students the opportunity to be tutored by undergraduates in order to get them into Russell Group universities or Oxbridge. El has chosen specifically to help one student from Barrow called Lauren who has won a place to study Medicine at Cambridge....

The expedition is starting on the 24th of June from Minehead. We aim to walk the 630 mile path in 40 days, camping as we go. We will keep everyone regularly updated on our progress through livestreams and instagram updates. I am taking my small orange guitar and am hoping to muster the energy to livestream a gig each week. El is bringing her video camera and will be documenting the weird and wonderful situations and characters we come across. We hope to keep you as involved as possible on our voyage around the 'Salt Path' and we are grateful for any and all donations received. Both charities are wonderful causes. We will split the money raised equally between both.
Thank you everyone for reading this far. Wish us well - and if you happen to come across the god of blisters, ask him to be kind to us...
