For the nine years I've known Krytondra and Clancy, Clancy has been fighting for his life through dialysis and a kidney transplant. The day before Thanksgiving, we received a call from Krytondra. With a newborn in the house plus two older kids, they needed help getting him to the ER. My husband and adult son happened to be at the gym nearby, so they gave him a ride.
It's surreal to just drop off a friend or family at the hospital, but that's how it is in a pandemic. I guess. It's my first pandemic, after all.
We all waited. By Saturday, doctors had determined that it wasn't his kidney.
It was cancer.
The next couple of weeks were a whirlwind of doctors appointments and questions. Finally, the team determined it is lymphoma and they prescribed a course of action-chemo and continued dialysis to keep his kidney through it all.
I'm fast-forwarding through all the ups and downs to get us to the reason for this gofundme. Treatment is expensive and cash payments are required to meet the deductible. The first chemo treatment is $1,400 out of pocket. The plan is to continue every three weeks for six months.
Additionally, Krytondra has been unable to go into work as they had planned for this year. They had expected to be able to juggle taking care of baby with their two work schedules. With the anticipated medical bills and without her income, this family needs our help.
This is a six month journey. If you can help, even $5 here and there makes a difference!
