Hi,

My name is Claire Lerch and I am competing with TeamUSA at the Junior World Championship in Lake Auronzo, Italy this summer. I competed at the Olympic Hopefuls Regatta in Bratislava Slovakia last year and this year earned a seat on the U.S. team by placing among the top qualifiers at the US. National Time Trials in April.

I am excited to compete and have been training hard but I am very concerned about the financial commitment. It's going to cost over $8,000 to attend this years event. $3000 airfare, lodging and meals (20 days in country) $2000, boat rental and equipment $1,300, uniforms $500, coaching fees $1,500. It seems to keep going up.

I have been saving and working but I can't cover the expense on my own. My parents have been amazing and have always supported me. They spent a small fortune sending me to Slovakia for the Olympic Hopefuls Regatta last year and this trip is going to be even more.

I am going there to do my very best. No matter the outcome at the finish line, I want to finish knowing I did my very best. This is a dream and perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Thank you for your support and encouragement.
