My name is Sarah Meashaw and I am creating this fundraiser to support my good friend and photography mentor Ewan Cheyne. His beloved wife Claire passed away several weeks ago at age 42 from Muscular Dystrophy, leaving him heartbroken and unable to afford the cost of properly memorializing her life.
Ewan was Claire's primary carer giver for 18 years. During that time Claire was the main bread winner as a website designer, while Ewan's energies were focused on the tasks that Claire needed help with day to day.
Not only is Ewan dealing with the grief of losing his wife, he is dealing with losing his routine and main focus. The security that Claire's business provided has been stripped away.
You can help give Ewan a little breathing room while he navigates his new world and transforms his pet photography business from a part time personal project to something that can sustain him and the animals.
Ewan writes, "This has been the worst week of my life.
I spent the last few days holding Claire's hand writing this big thing about why I loved her so much and why I was so proud of her. About who she was and what made her so special. But I'm not ready to share that yet.
Claire was kind and good.
And I need to share this last amazing gift Claire gave, sharing this with people will give me comfort.
Claire never believed she could be an organ donor because of her muscular dystrophy. She always viewed her body as useless( I never once thought that). Well it turns out her body wasn't quite as "useless" as she thought. As I type this 4 of her organs are on their way to waiting recipients and some time in the not too distant future she will also give someone the gift of sight as well. I wish I could rub it in her face that I was right and she was wrong... Her body was far from useless in life and even at the end it was amazing.
It meant we've had to tough this out for an extra two days(she was never aware or in pain) but I got a little extra time to hold her hand. And I got another incredible reason to be proud of Claire.
People are good, people are kind.
I wouldn't have got through this last week if it wasn't for the incredible and kind NHS nurses on the intensive care unit. Claire had a nurse with her 24 hours a day, they do long long shifts and that same nurse would stay with her for the whole shift. Every last one of them was so kind to Claire, myself and Claire's family - I can't even begin to describe all the small acts of kindness and the gentle care they provided. I will always be eternally grateful to them.
And I know I'm about to be bombarded with love and care.
I just wanted to share the truly amazing last gift Claire gave today, my heart is bursting with pride in her ❤️"
The support of you all means the world to Ewan. He really needs us to rally behind him in the darkest of days. Thank you so much for your support and any contribution to this fund. It really means the world to him.
