Many of you know Rick, Claire, and Griffin Phillips. Griffin was a sweet student of mine at OCES and his family was so loving and kind to me as his teacher. Claire, Griffin’s mom has been in the hospital since August 5. Below is information from Rick with one of her first updates...

Claire Phillips situation is as follows... She tested negative for Covid-19, they are going to retest her to confirm the negative results. She has extreme Bacterial Pneumonia in both lungs and they are trying to kill it with lots of antibiotics. They are giving her a drug called slolan(sp) to relax her lungs so she can breath better. They have turned down the ventilator to less than 100%. She received a central venous catheter in her chest today to get her body temperature under control. She may need dialysis in the hospital because her kidneys aren't functioning at 100%. Right now she is stable with a guarded prognosis. They are also giving her meds to get her blood pressure up. That's all I have for now, but I am feeling better about the outcome. The doctor thinks she'll be in the hospital for 2-3 weeks. Please continue to keep Claire, Griffin, and me in your prayers. Love to all.
Claire has improved, but is still in ICU with steps forward and backward.
Many have reached out to me to ask how to help. Since they currently live in Kennesaw, I was trying to collect $ to send to Rick to use towards food or gas in the form of a gift card.
