Help Lisa Battle ALS and FTD
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
I am Lauren Egan and I'm fundraising for my mom, Lisa, wife to Jimmy (James) Egan. Lisa was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD) in 2022.
ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time. Eventually ALS affects control of the muscles needed to move, speak, eat and breathe. Medication and therapy can slow ALS, but there is no cure for this disease.
Frontotemporal dementia is a disorder that causes progressive damage to the temporal and frontal lobes of the brain associated with personality, behavior and language. About 10-15% of people with FTD also experience motor neuron degeneration called FTD with motor neuron disease (FTD/MND) or FTD with ALS.
My mom was a dental hygienist for 37 years. She was truly an expert at her job. The friendships she had with her patients and her family at the office were what made it so special to her. She touched the lives of so many not only through dental hygiene, but also as the best mother, mentor, friend, and colleague around. My mom is truly one of the most supportive, kind, and loving people I will ever know. I cannot imagine who I would be today without her. My hope is to give back to her by helping her live stress-free and have all medical expenses paid for. Please help us in raising funds for my mom.
With Love,
Lauren and the Egan Family
