Only two days after saying goodbye to Dug, Riley has been diagnosed with Pyometra and needs emergency surgery to save her life. Dug became sick back in November around thanksgiving and we depleted all of our savings into trying to save him, in total we spent around 6k on vet bills/fees and then another 600 on euthanasia and cremation, just when we thought we had turned the corner and the expensive vet bills were behind us for at least a couple years, Riley started to act weird. She had stopped eating and increased her water intake significantly, acting mopey and just looking sad. We originally chopped it up to her being depressed about Dug but around 5am on 2/7 we noticed odd colored discharge from her privates and made the decision to come to VEG ER where she was diagnosed with pyometra and the only way to save her was to have emergency surgery. So while we were already breaking even with Dug, Riley’s emergency has left us completely in the shit. As much as I hate asking for help, I don’t know what else to do at this point.
