My name is Phillippe B. Cunningham. I live in Summerville, SC and attend Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
The Charleston church shooting that took place at Mother Emanuel AME church not only took the lives of innocent and loving members of our community, it also devastated families. One of those families affected was that of Reverend DePayne Middleton Doctor’s. Rev. Doctor left behind four grieving daughters. Gracyn, Kaylin, Hali, and Czana. I got to know Rev. Doctor and her daughters when they attended Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and participated in our Children’s Church Ministry. When we first heard of the shooting, my family and I immediately thought of how we can support Rev. Doctor’s daughters. Losing a mother is tragic, which is only compounded by also losing your primary caregiver. I decided as a fundraiser to dedicate each running event I will be participating in 2016 (beginning with the Charleston Marathon) to raise money for Rev. Doctor’s daughters and Mrs. Bethane Middleton-Brown, who has been awarded guardianship/primary custody of the girls. I am asking family and friends for their financial support. Funds will be used to cover daily living expenses, school books and supplies, and college tuition. A bank account for this fundraiser has been set up at Bank of America in the name of DBA (Doing Business As) Four Sisters of Mother Emanuel) to receive funds from GoFundMe. Once we have meet our goal Mrs. Middleton-Brown will be given a cashier’s check totaling the exact account balance. The Doctor daughters’ have shown tremendous strength, but also have a long road ahead of them and will appreciate your prayers and donations! Thanks in advance for your help!
