Friends, family, the riding community and kind-hearted strangers,
We are reaching out to you after a terrible accident involving our friend Nicole.
Our names are Christie & Kelly and we are asking for your help as we support Nicole through her recovery.
Last Saturday (15th July) we as a group of motorcycle riders (L’s, P’s and advanced) were taking advantage of the generosity of a qualified instructor for a 4 hour lesson which started in the Somersby Industrial estate doing safety drills, emergency breaking and corners. We then finished the session; riding for the first time with our Instructor up to Jerry’s at Kulnura.
On the way home, as we each made the corner at Dog Trap Road, Nicole unfortunately somehow left the road. The crash investigation unit declared she was doing 38km per hour on the bend with a speed limit of 55km per hour (speed was not a factor). This accident was not a result of reckless riding, or being silly in anyway. Nic lost focus of the corner, focused on the guard rail and ended up into the guard rail (while trying her hardest to stop herself).
After almost 2hrs, 2 Ambulances, 2 Fire Trucks, multiple Highway Patrol, Nicole was freed from the bush and fence that caught her, to be airlifted to RNS Hospital. Her injuries are significant but not life threatening. She has required surgery on her ankle, she has a fractured sternum and some very nasty cuts and bruising.
We are asking for your help. Nicole is a true Aussie hard working woman, she works really hard to bring in income to support her young son. Her bills include medical expenses, loss of income, emergency services costs and if anything is left over, tow truck costs and replacing the safety gear cut off her and disposed of to transport her over the guard rail to hospital (including her full face helmet that took the full force of the impact to the guard rail which Crash Investigation Team said saved her life).
Times are tough, we get it. If you can spare any money to help get Nic through this, it would be so appreciated.
