Hi, my name is Chris, and my family is in trouble. I've been out of work since the start of the Covid lockdown. While I have recently landed a job, I have also received a notice of termination of residency in my apartment unless we can pay the entirety of past due rent. The state assistance agency that was supposed to be helping us was supposed to pay November, December, and January's rent. But only paid November in full and $400 of December's. Their contact number has been disconnected, and other agencies are not returning my calls. I will not receive my first paycheck until February 4th. I do not like asking for money, but I have a family that is more important than my pride. So I ask for help from people I do not know or are at best internet friends to help. My savings were demolished by a pre-covid purchase of a house and the attempted renovation for our living there. The contractor embezzled the money during lockdown for drugs and is currently in prison for related offenses. The house has been repossessed, and the money that went into it is lost. I am the only member of my family capable of working; my spouse has psoriatic arthritis and can barely walk most days. Dale has EDS, a condition that leaves her bedridden most days. Both have been repeatedly denied disability. And my daughter is 7. We would be highly grateful for any assistance.
