Hi everyone, I’m here to ask for help for my beloved dog, Bowie. He’s 13 years old and has been a huge part of my life. Those who have met me (and Bowie) know just how much he means to me. Three weeks ago, a strange mass appeared on his neck overnight. At first, I thought it was a bee sting, so I gave him some baby Benadryl and monitored him closely. But suddenly, he started bleeding from his mouth, and I rushed him to the ER that night. The vet explained that it could be an abscess from a wound (we have no idea how he could have gotten hurt or if he was), cancer, or something related to his teeth (he has had 80% of them pulled years ago). They prescribed him antibiotics and pain medication and advised me to follow up with his regular vet. Since then, Bowie has had two appointments, but we still don’t have any clear answers. Blood tests showed his white blood cell count is slightly low, and now they recommend more tests, including X-rays and a dental exam. I also have to change his diet completely to help get his white blood cell count up. Unfortunately, I’m overwhelmed by all these cost, another $400 for tests and potentially up to $1500 for dental work if needed. I’ve already been so grateful for the support from others that have gotten us this far, but I’m reaching out again because I just don’t have the means to cover the remaining expenses on my own. Bowie is my family and he means everything to me, and I want to do everything I can to help him get better. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us.
