Hello my name is William Vazquez, and I am raising money to bring a class action suit against GIG who is the company making star citizen. I have tested thousands of hours of star citizen from 2014-2017. I have not tested in a while but I have continued watching star citizen content for years. The game was not playable 2 years ago when I quit and it still has issues. Chris Roberts has been feature creeping the crap out of this game and has been using Star citizen as his own personal piggy bank. I think we can prove this in court.
Star citizen is taking advantage of its backers by continuously offering more and more ships for sale. The original goal was for $500000 and $2 million was raised then the goal was raised again to $65 million and is now at $250 million in backers funding. Despite raising $250 million if backers were to stop buying ships CIG would not be able to finish the game. Backers reached each funding goal and CIG has mismanaged the backers money. We have no guarantee from CIG that if backers were to stop funding, CIG would still be able to finish the project despite backers giving Chris Roberts 450 times his original goal. At this rate the game will cost over $1 billion.
What has Chris Roberts and CIG done with backers money? He bought companies and built a large studio in 5 different countries just to make 2 games . CIG released financial statements, but we don’t know how much the CEO Chris Roberts makes.
My goal is to hire a lawyer with the funds raised. I think we can prove fraud in court in a class action suit. I will argue that CIG makes no attempt to regulate ship sales to customers who have self-control issues. There are no warnings on their website to backers about overspending. Even casinos have warnings to compulsive gamblers but CIG makes no attempt to help the overspending backers. They encourage more spending by leaving the stats of funds raised on their website so that backers can spend $1000 on a ship and feel proud of it.
Part of my goal is to also ask for the Salaries of Chris Roberts and Sandy Gardner. Since this is Chris Roberts Dream project i would also like to find out how much time Chris Roberts actually spends at CIG helping make the game he promised.
The Few backers that do play the game have spoken for the 2 million backers who funded years ago and forgotten about it. They have given Chris Roberts a blank check and an infinite amount of time to finish this game. These backers shouldn't speak for everyone. I don't expect to Receive any of the goal I've set since there are more noble goals to fund on Gofundme but I hope to draw some Attention to the issue of game companies using their backers generosity as their own personal piggy bank.
