The Civics Project
Tax deductible
Do you understand how government works?
Most people in the United States don't! Poor comprehension of politics and government, also known as "civic illiteracy", results in weaker voter registration and turnout and failure to understand policies, ballot measures and candidate records. If we want to rebuild democracy and advance justice in the United States, creating civic literacy among people of all ages is urgent!
We're proud to launch "The Civics Project" in 2021, providing ongoing virtual community education to the public, about federal, state, and municipal government, including legislative bodies, the courts, executive leadership, elections, voter suppression, the Census, gerrymandering and voting districts, lobbying, forms of civic participation, tracking policy and legislation, federal and state institutions, citizenship, indigenous peoples, public health, budgets and economies, the military, and learning how to research political candidates, policies, and court cases. The Project is meant to be accessible to teens and adults from a wide range of backgrounds. Beginners are especially welcome!
The Civics Project is a non-partisan effort, sponsored by Repair, a health and disability justice organization based in Los Angeles.
We need your help! Providing high quality ongoing public education takes resources, and we need to raise $10,000 to keep the Project going through 2021.
Your donation is tax deductible, and channels through our 501(c)3 sponsor, the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF).
