How Football Changed My Life—and Inspired My Mission

My name is Tapiwa Manhungo, and I grew up in Zimbabwe with big dreams but few opportunities. Football changed my life, opening doors to education, travel and personal growth.

Many talented friends never received the same opportunity. Without resources or support, some turned to drugs and other dangerous paths. They didn’t lack talent—they lacked a bridge to a better future.

City SC Harare is that bridge.

Our cost-free academy now serves more than 80 boys from U11 through U19, many from low-income families. We provide professional coaching, mentorship, equipment and a safe, structured environment where players can grow both on and off the field.

Our goal is not only to develop better players, but also better human beings—future leaders, responsible citizens and role models who will give back to their communities.

It costs approximately $610 per month to operate the academy. This supports two full-time coaches, transportation, referee fees, training water, post-game meals, field rental and maintenance, player welfare and matchday expenses. We also need approximately $100 for training equipment and $200 to ship donated jerseys and kits from the United States.

Your support makes a direct difference:

$20 provides training water for a month

$50 supports field rental and maintenance

$100 helps transport our teams

$150 supports one coach’s monthly stipend

$610 funds a full month of operations

Every contribution, no matter the size, can help change a child’s story—just as football once changed mine.

Please consider donating and helping us give these young athletes the opportunities, guidance and hope they deserve.

From City SC:

Because GoFundMe does not currently support direct withdrawals in Zimbabwe, donations will be received by City SC in the United States and transferred to support City SC Harare.
