Imani is 27 years old. She is thoughtful, gentle, quietly strong, and the kind of person who has spent her entire life learning how to survive without asking for help.
She grew up in foster care, navigating instability, loss, and uncertainty from a young age. Even then, she learned how to endure, how to keep going, and how to show kindness despite hardship. That strength carried her into adulthood, where she continued to push forward, even when life was overwhelming.
As an adult, Imani chose to give that strength back. She dedicated herself to working with children who are often misunderstood. Kids with emotional challenges, behavioral struggles, and difficult reputations. She saw past labels and met them with patience, compassion, and consistency. For many of these children, she was someone who showed up calmly, believed in them, and treated them with dignity when others had given up. Helping them was never just a job to her. It was her way of turning her own pain into purpose.
For months, her body began to fail her without explanation.
She had persistent fevers.
She collapsed without warning.
Her lymph nodes swelled until she could barely move her neck.
Her breathing would suddenly shut down.
She experienced constant vomiting, fainting, and repeated emergency room visits.
Still, she tried to push through. She told herself she just needed to hold on a little longer, the way she always had.
But her body would not allow it.
After another frightening medical emergency, doctors finally gave her an answer.
Imani has Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Cancer.
At just 27 years old.
The diagnosis explained months of pain, fear, and confusion. She is now under the care of specialists at City of Hope and preparing for intensive treatment as she begins the fight of her life.
Cancer has taken away her ability to work, her energy, and the independence she worked so hard to build. Treatment is physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming, and the financial strain that comes with it is immense.
Why We Are Asking for Help
Imani needs support for:
• Medical related expenses and treatment support
• Transportation to and from appointments
• Basic living expenses while she is unable to work
• Daily necessities during chemotherapy and recovery
• Stability and peace so she can focus on healing
She has spent her life surviving quietly and independently. Asking for help does not come easily to her.
But no one should have to fight cancer alone.
Imani is a fighter. She always has been. From foster care to adulthood, from showing up for children who needed patience and understanding, and now in the face of cancer, she continues to meet every challenge with grace, resilience, and courage.
If you are able to donate, share, or keep her in your thoughts, it would mean more than words can express. Every contribution helps her face this chapter with dignity, stability, and hope.
Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping support Imani as she fights one of the hardest battles of her life.
